Certified Sommelier & Mixologist
Douglas Carlsen, certified Sommelier and Mixologist, collaborates with liquor companies to create original cocktails and award-winning flavored whiskies. He has gained national attention and has been interviewed by newspapers and magazines for his stunning cocktail displays. In late 2022, Doug launched the Liquid Art Mixology project, where he shares his life story, cocktail recipes and more!

Definitions of the Industry:
Craft Cocktail:
A handcrafted alcoholic mixed drink made with high-quality, often local, or artisanal, & always fresh ingredients. This includes every component of the beverage: spirits, mixes, and garnishes. They are made best by a master mixologist.
Master Mixologist:
A bartender with a "Ph.D."" in the creation of craft cocktails. This is one who demonstrates extraordinary skill, talent, and excellence in the creation of craft cocktails. They are well-versed in both classic and contemporary cocktail recipes. They have the added ability to improvise new recipes to satisfy anyone's palate.
The Craft Cocktail Movement:
The social movement spurred by the cocktail renaissance that was ignited in 2004. This period of time, in the 21st century, has been characterized by a revival and reprioritization of traditional bartending methods. These methods capitalize on high quality ingredients and focus on the finest techniques. This creates beverages that not just please the palate…they become an experience that stimulates every sense.
Sommelier:
A "Wine Waiter" that has several years of education and experience. They have knowledge of all aspects of every main type of wine. This includes its history, how it is produced, how to serve it, as well as the art of pairing it with food.
Oenophile:
A connoisseur of wine.
Vinophile:
A person with a fondness for wine.
